New CD from Indy & Steve
It started in a shed in Sudbury,Suffolk, and finished in a basement in the same town. Written and recorded in stolen moments, and always with the deadline of Indy's departure to Australia looming, 'Divergence' is finally with us. It was worth the wait.
Indy Says:
After the success of When Paths Cross, it was obvious that there would be a follow up. Some of the songs were a result of the writing equivalent of colonic irrigation! I went to old tapes and listened to ideas that had been hanging around for years. It felt good to finally mould them into songs. The last few lyrics were written only days before my flight to Oz! There are a few 'from scratch' new ones, one old song, and Steve and I got together on a couple. The songs come from many different places, but the resulting album is satisfyingly coherent.
The making of Divergence was enormous fun, and I am very proud of what we have achieved. The mixing was done thanks to much back-and-forth posting between the hemispheres! I have listened so many times, but 'Here We Are Again' still makes me laugh out loud, the sax work on 'Wish Away The Days' is pure genius, and the flute on 'Van Song' will never cease to move me. Once again, Steve has not only proved that he is a very talented musician, but also that he is an excellent friend.
Steve Says: Yeah! (deep low voice, Afro-American accent) Harmonies are a beautiful thing and Indy sings them beautifully. It has once again been a pirivilege working with such a talented singer and I'll always remember dancing around the studio like nutters to a playback of "Tell it like it is" and the infectious laugh that always accompanied the end of "Here we are again". Music is a major part of my life and Indy is a major part of my musical being. Being on opposite sides of the planet has not prevented us from producing our latest offering and I am looking forward to the next collaboration.
